Obituary
Frances Lee Douglas, 86, of Springfield, Missouri,
passed away Sunday, May 23, 2010, in her home. She was born in Hannibal,
Missouri on January 9, 1924, to the late William R. Harrington and Essie
Dant Harrington. Following the death of her biological Mother, she was
blessed with a great Step-Mother, the late Mollie B. Harrington, who raised
her from age 6. She graduated from Douglass School in Hannibal and Lincoln
University with a B.S. Degree in Education.
In 1946, she moved to Springfield, Missouri to teach
at Lincoln School. In 1950, she married W.B. Douglas. To this union 3
children were born, Sue, Judy, and Steven. Later, she worked in Customer
Service at City Utilities until her retirement in 1987. Frances was a member
of Benton Avenue A.M.E. Church, serving as treasurer for over 30 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death
by her husband, brothers, a sister (Iola), and a daughter (Sue).
Survivors include a daughter, Judy of Springfield, a
son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Carmen of St. Peters, Missouri; 4
granddaughters, 1 grandson, 1 great grandson, 1 niece, 3 nephews, several
cousins
and a host of friends.
