Her Story in Christ

Leota Mae (Snead) Armstrong began life's journey on April 21, 1923 in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, as one of eight children born to Tom and Ollie Snead. Leota confessed a belief in Christ, accepting Him as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She was educated in the Pleasant Hill Public School Suystem and later graduated from Blankenship Beauty School.

Leota moved to Kansas City, Missouri on February 5, 1951 after marrying the Reverend James T. Armstrong. From this happy union of 37 years came two daughters, Neadia Pearl Armstrong and Jamesetta Armstrong.

As a minister's wife, leota served faithfully at Reverend Armstrong's side. Upon retirement, they united with Ward Chapel A.M.E. Church, where she enjoyed singing in the Gospel Choir and attending Sunday School. Leota was also a member of the Women's Missionary Society, earning the Cleo B. Love regognition, and she served many years on the Stewardess Board. Leota was a faithful servant, assisting Reverend Marshan fields with communion to members in nursing homes each month. She was consecrated Deaconess in the A.M.E. Church on September 25, 2004 under Bishop John R. Bryant. Leota was affectionately called "Ms. Sally" by her friends because of her love of hat and clothes. Many thought of her as their "village mother" because her heart was always full of love.

Leota was preceded in her journey home by her parents, Tom and Ollie Snead; husband, the Reverend James Armstrong; brothers: Winfred and Roy Snead; sisters: DeEtta Gant and Marquise Guest.

She leaves to celebrate her life: two daughters: Reverend Neadia Riley and Jamesetta Davis; both of Kansas City, Kansas; four grandchildren: Kenya Christwell (Cecil), Andre Riley, Marcus Davis Sr., Erinn Riley; foru great grandchildren: Marcus Davis, Jr., Alexandria Riley, Cecil Christwell III, jaxon Davis: one brother, Wayman Snead (Gloria); two sisters: Cecilia Franklin and Willis Jean Brown (Carl) all of Kanss City, Missouri and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who loved and will truly miss her.
